iPod Touch/iPhone as Universal Remote

Okay, this looks promising. I like the iPhone/iPod Touch Remote app from Apple that lets me use my iPod Touch as a remote control for the Apple TV — but it is too limited. I want to control my whole home video/audio setup from one device.

Enter Square Connect and their upcoming product DotControl, combining a custom iPhone app with a hardware component that takes the wireless signals from your iPhone  and emits the proper infrared signals to run your TV, stereo, DVR, etc. The software component is to be programmable and extensible, making full use of the iPhone touch screen.

This is still in development, but they are taking applications for beta testers right now. The CouchGuy has inquired about being part of the beta round. How about you?
